Why Organizations Choose Us

Insurance that keeps up with the mission

Nonprofit coverage has to account for volunteers and boards, not just paid staff and a building.

Written for volunteer work

Coverage that addresses how volunteers actually serve rather than treating them as employees or ignoring them.

Built around your programs

Direct service, youth programs, transport, and facility use each shape what the program needs to cover.

Local help for the board

Certificates, grant requirements, and coverage questions handled by a team you can reach.

Who We Work With

Built for organizations of all kinds

That same practical approach works across a wide range of organizations, from single congregations to agencies running multiple programs and facilities.

Know Before You Renew

Make sure your coverage matches the commitment

Obligations come from state law, from your own bylaws, and from the funders and landlords your organization answers to.

How volunteers are covered

General liability commonly extends to volunteers acting for the organization. Workers' compensation generally does not unless coverage has been elected, and that distinction matters at claim time

Board protection under your bylaws

Most bylaws obligate the organization to indemnify board members. Directors and officers coverage is what allows the organization to meet that commitment

Grant and facility requirements

Funders and landlords set required limits and additional insured status as a condition of the award or the lease

Understanding Your Premium

What actually moves your insurance cost

Nonprofit premiums are built from what your programs do and who carries them out. The more accurately those details are represented, the easier it is to make sure you are paying for the right risk.

Services you provide

Direct service, youth programs, and transport each carry distinct exposure.

Paid staff and volunteers

Headcount and how the workforce is structured shape several lines at once.

Claims and loss experience

Employment and board-related claims carry the longest tail.

Facility and rentals

Outside groups using your space change the liability picture.

Values and business income

Replacement cost on equipment plus what the floor earns while it is down.

Revenue and grant sources

The base figure many lines rate from, and the source of many requirements.

Before You Renew

A better premium often starts with better information.

We review volunteer roles, program descriptions, vehicle use, facility agreements, and grant requirements before assuming the answer is simply another carrier.

Good To Know

Non-Profits and Churches insurance FAQs

Quick answers to common questions from New York nonprofits and congregations.
At minimum: general liability, directors and officers coverage for the board, workers’ compensation and DBL for paid staff, and commercial property on the building and contents. Organizations running transport or direct service programs usually need coverage written for those specifically.
It depends on the line and how the policy is written. General liability commonly extends to volunteers acting for the organization. Workers’ compensation generally does not unless coverage has been elected.
Because claims name individuals. Employment decisions, financial oversight, and governance disputes fall outside general liability, and board members serve without compensation but not without exposure.
They should carry their own coverage and name your organization on it. A facility use agreement is what makes that enforceable, and we can tell you what to require in it.
